Biography

Heidi Laughton grew up in Oxford, England and studied Psychology at Royal Holloway University of London. She then pursued a successful 15 year career as a creative director overseeing all visual media for world renowned recording artists, the last 6 years of which were at Sony Music. This entailed overseeing music video shoots, documentaries, stills photography shoots and behind-the-scenes video footage, for print media,  television broadcast and websites/social media.

Link this talent with her desire to experience different people and their cultures from around the world and it was only matter of time before she started writing articles for magazines and producing dramatic documentary images

Heidi Laughton has written and shot for NGO’s and other non-profits and was a frequent writer and photographer for the American Redcross in Los Angeles, as well as being a member of the Disaster Action Team. Her forte lies in researching stories, integrating with her subject matter and understanding the necessity to be trusted by the people who’s story she is telling.

Laughton writes and shoots for printed editorial and online content, including a regular column for BathLife magazine called “Meet The Makers” in 2016.

Her work has been exhibited at the well-received group photojournalism show “Wide Angle View” at the Orange County Center of Contemporary Art along with pulitzer prize winning photojournalists. The portrait series about Native American culture has grown into a complete cultural experience with Native speakers and workshops incorporated into the exhibition. The exhibition was on show for a year at The American Museum of Britain in 2015 and is now a travelling exhibition

More recently Heidi has taken time out to set up an art gallery in Bath called “Gallery & Barrow” and display her team of artists’ work at Art Fairs across the country

Over the next few years, Heidi hopes to spend more time in France where her brother and his family live, and will take the opportunity to observe and write about ways of life in France for local and national travel and lifestyle magazines
