Katherine Fraser: Weaver Images may take a moment to upload...
In Bath’s artisan quarter, a hard working designer-weaver can be found behind her antique loom, producing soft, contemporary fabrics for bespoke orders. Katherine Fraser designs and produces woven textiles for both fashion and interiors. She started as a painter and was coerced into trying weaving at art school in Winchester.
The Katherine Fraser shop sells all sorts of products from little buttons to scarves, shawls, cushions and blankets. They have a large range pre-made in the shop and also custom design. The most popular bespoke orders are cushions and throws. They work with other companies such as furniture company OCHRE making metres of fabric for them, and a range of fabrics for Eton design and a sofa range with the Buro.
Katherine's most popular pattern is the houndstooth which was purely an accidental design - a happy mistake!
The main loom is a beautiful AVL made in California which Katherine has owned for a decade. There are also lots of small handlooms downstairs that they use to teach workshops on
